The three market towns: Vielle – Saint-Girons – Saint-Girons Plage
Located in the west of the Landes département (40), in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region, Vielle-Saint-Girons is a commune of 1,225 inhabitants: the Vieillois(es) and Saint-Gironnais(es). It belongs to the “Côte Landes Nature” community of communes, and extends over three villages:
- Vielle: the lake
- Saint-Girons-en-Marensin: the commune’s administrative center
- Saint-Girons Plage: the seaside resort
The beaches
A well-known seaside resort on the Landes coast, Vielle St Girons is bordered to the west by 17 km of beach. The commune has 5 supervised beaches during the summer season (the St-Girons beach from June 1 to September 30).
- The 2 beaches of Saint Girons Plage: 13 km of fine sand between Cap de l’Homy to the north and the wild Lette Blanche beach to the south,
- The wild Lette Blanche beach at Vielle (towards Pichelèbe),
- Arnaoutchot naturist beach, Vielle (towards Pichelèbe),
- La plage du Lac, Vielle (north of Etang de Léon).
PRACTICAL: During the summer months, a shuttle service runs between the towns and beaches of the Communauté de communes Côte Landes Nature.
Sports facilities and bicycle paths
A dynamic tourist town, Vielle-Saint-Girons boasts a wide range of sports facilities throughout its territory.
- Sports complex, route de Pichelèbe: fronton (pelote basque), skate park with bowl, fitness equipment.
- In the village of Vielle: fitness trail near the lake entertainment area, route de Merle.
- In the town of Saint-Girons: municipal tennis court.

Throughout the year, take advantage of the Landes markets to discover the regional products of the Southwest:
- Saint-Girons market: Saturday mornings, year-round, 9am to 12pm, Place Jean Barbe (former town hall).
- Saint-Girons Plage market: in July and August, Sunday mornings, 8am to 1pm, Les Barcottes parking lot. Nocturnes in July and August, Tuesday evenings, 5-10pm.

How to get to Vielle and Saint-Girons?
In the heart of the Landes department, on the Atlantic coast, Vielle-Saint-Girons is located halfway between the Bassin d’Arcachon and the Basque Country.
By car:
From Paris, follow the A10 towards Bordeaux, then take the A63 towards Bayonne / Saint Sébastien, exit 12 Dax/Moliets-et-Maa/Vielle-Saint-Girons/Léon, follow Castets.
By train:
TGV trains arrive and depart from Dax and Bayonne stations.
The nearest SNCF station is DAX (35 km).
From Paris Montparnasse, you can reach Dax station by TGV Atlantique in 3h20.
By plane:
Bordeaux airport: 140 km – Biarritz airport: 75 km.
